Moodle is BUW’s learning management system. This is where your lecturers can create and organise their courses and make materials and information available to you.
BUW’s video conferencing tool is Zoom. The app is available to all students with full functionality, so there’s nothing to stop you from holding study group sessions lasting several hours.
If you’d like to have even larger files to hand for your studies, Sciebo is your secure cloud storage solution with 30 GB of storage space.
What’s more, you can create Office documents and edit them collaboratively with others. Sciebo is available free of charge to all students.
Create, edit and share documents or presentations in Word and PowerPoint; take digital notes in OneNote during lectures and get 3 GB of cloud storage on OneDrive for all your coursework and group projects – available on all your devices, anytime, anywhere.
Rocket.Chat is our tool of choice for quick and easy communication with your fellow students, even across faculties and study groups.
CryptPad allows you and your fellow students to edit a wide variety of documents securely and simultaneously, making it ideal for writing joint seminar papers.
The University of Wuppertal is providing you with access to generative artificial intelligence as a data-protection-friendly option. Access is via the web interface developed by RWTH Aachen University, called KI:Connect. You can log in using your ZIM account.
Sometimes you need specialised equipment for a seminar or project. Our equipment rental might be able to help.
In Building T on Level 11, you’ll find space for group work and discussions, individual workstations and technical equipment at your disposal. And there’s a sofa too.
The VPN lets you access the university network from home: access online academic literature through the library, upload a doctor’s note if you’re sick and can’t take an exam, or upload your thesis.
Tip: It’s best to set it up with two-factor authentication right away (required for everyone starting December 1, 2026).
